DIY is an important skill for every man to master, but it’s one that is becoming less and less important in the ever-emerging world of technology, where anything from lighting a fire to reading a map has been simplified to the point of obscurity by lovely, shiny gadgets.
These days you don’t even have to be as handy around the house, as crowd-funded startup avi-on looks to prove by eliminating the admittedly painful process of moving a light switch from one wall to another. It’s a wireless, movable switch that you stick to the wall with no screws or wires within 100ft of a Bluetooth-enabled “smart bulb”, and an optional dimmer plug pairs with your smartphone to set up timers for holiday and security lighting.
Best of all – it’s really cheap compared to the competition (right now at least) at $59 for the starter pack and $79 with the dimmer, though there are loads of larger bundles available if you want to deck out an entire home. Better be quick though – bright ideas like this sell out fast.
