There are few things better to do on a luxury holiday than kick back with a cold beer and watch the waves roll in, but if beach bars full of gringos who had the same idea at 9am that morning aren’t your thing we have just the ticket. Aptly named Cloud 9, this floating platform off the coast of Fiji redefines paradise and is the perfect tranquil location in which to sup your martini in peace.
The only two level floating platform in the area boasts a fully stocked bar serving delicious cocktails and smoothies and if you’re peckish you can tuck into a Wood Fire Pizza to help line the stomach. Regular DJs create custom-made playlists that fall in line with what’s described as a “cutting edge music policy” to help get the party started, hopefully with a fair selection of chilled out vibe if you’re not in the mood for a rave.
Typically you’d make your way out there from Port Denarau, the closest tourist hub for transfers and a 45 minute boat ride across the beautiful turquoise waters, but if you’re lucky enough to have a speed boat handy you can jet out there in just 10 minutes from one of the nearby resorts and pull up for a drink – no landing fees required.
