Here we are again, with Dodge claiming the crown of Quickest Fastest and Most Powerful Sedan in The World. This time the SRT Hellcat treatment has hit the 2015 Charger, the only American-bred four-door muscle car. Packing 707 horsepower and a top speed of 204 mph, this Charger boasts an NHRA-certified quarter mile time of 11.0 seconds on street tires.
It’s not all about the added grunt. Dodge and SRT designers have re-sculpted and refined nearly every body panel to help performance, but the result is pretty sweet on the eye, too. The heat extractors in the larger, power-bulge aluminum hood, unique front and rear fascias and dramatic LED lighting in both front and rear end all hit the eye like the blast of the engine whacks the ear.
The Charger Hellcat SRT is as comfortable carting the family around neighborhood streets as it is on the racetrack. It starts with two key fobs – one black, and one red that launches all 707 horsepower. The TorqueFlite heavy-duty eight-speed automatic transmission can do fuel-efficient street driving or hit the track to sprint through the gears with 160 millisecond shifts and rev-matching. Stop on a dime with the largest brakes ever offered in a Chrysler Group vehicle – 15.4-inch Brembo two-piece rotors with six-piston calipers.
Safe and suburban or fast ‘n’ furious? This Hellcat’s a devil in disguise.
