Tables can be handsome, but you could never really describe them as mesmerizing… until now. Mike Warren has found a way to make a table that you will want to stare at, then come back and see it at other times of day so you can see it in different light.
Warren has taken the naturally formed voids in pecky cypress wood and inlaid them with photoluminescent powder (a blue glow in the dark powder he got online) mixed with clear casting resin. The glow powder charges up in sunlight, then emits a cool blue glow in partial or complete darkness. For best effect, you should put this table near a window where it will be hit by the afternoon sun so it can set off a pleasant glow as twilight passes into evening.
Mike Warren has generously provided step-by-step instructions so you can make your own table so when you have guests over for a few drinks, it won’t just be language that’s colorful.
