There are mansions, there are mansions, and then there’s the Hillcrest Mansion. If you want to talk luxury, things don’t get much finer than this $85 million abode in California, boasting views from downtown LA right to the Pacific Ocean. It’s the brain-child of a guy called Bruce Makowsky, who has used his own money to build what he believes to be the ultimate dream home, or rather the ultimate dream home for rich people “who don’t have enough luxury to choose from”.
Fineries include (deep breath) a 2,500 bottle wine cellar that comes fully stocked, Fendi furniture, a £120,000 wall of sweets, a six car garage with an elevator to transport your favourite cars through to the lounge for some reason, an infinity pool, eight bedrooms, fourteen bathrooms, an indoor movie theatre, a basement, a games room, a fully stocked bar and a deluxe gym. And breathe.
It’s extravagance at its finest, and all of the hard work Makowsky put into refining it is likely to net a pretty penny when it sells to the likes of Jay-Z and Beyonce – the same property last sold in August 2012 for just $12.65 million. Damn you all, rich people.
