Lofoten Opera Hotel

Despite looking more than a little bit like Gandalf’s Middle Earth holiday home, the Lofoten Opera Hotel is a real thing – an 11,000 square meter hotel and residential complex in Norway’s Lofoten archipelago and a spectacular architectural triumph.

Somehow both contrasting and complementing the stunning landscape and surrounding views, it stretches out towards the sea to the South and mountainous regions to the North. The building’s intriguing snake-like design has been built for ecology and sustainability, and will include a range of modern facilities including apartments, an amphitheatre, spa, hiking and sea water basins.

It’s expected to be completed and opened later this year, and will surely achieve its goal of attracting new guests to Lofoten, home to one of Norway’s 18 national tourist routes.
