Remember when people put art books on coffee tables? Now the books are gone and the coffee tables are art.
Greg Klassen doesn’t so much make tables out of wood, it’s more like he forms tables around trees. Klassen gives life to discarded trees he finds around the Nooksack River near his home in the Pacific Northwest, selecting a rough slab of maple wood then shaping a form around the natural features so the wood’s best qualities are accentuated. No two pieces are the same.
The River collection of tables all have a ‘river’ of hand-cut, tempered blue glass meandering through the middle of them for a striking effect. Inspired by nature, crafted by hand, this is furniture that will be respected and admired by everyone.
