It’s a shame you can’t get away with wearing a pocket watch without being in fancy dress or heir to an unreasonably sized estate, because designs like the Runwell Pocket Watch make us yearn for a bit of a casual comeback.

Created by Detroit-based watch manufacturer Shinola, it’s a 49mm hand assembled timepiece with a stainless steel case, single curve sapphire crystal and Argonite 1069 movement. It also comes with a stainless steel ID link chain and black leather pouch to keep it in tip-top condition, and like all Shinola watches houses a uniquely US movement from nearly four-dozen Swiss-made parts.

It’s a beautiful design that effectively mixes classic with contemporary and though it doesn’t come cheap at $750 will guarantee an air of class and distinction that you just don’t get from something you strap on your wrist.
