Frank Miller’s Sin City took an entirely different slant on an emerging comic-book genre, masterfully translating his gritty, smoggy, no-holds-barred series to the big screen – it seems like we’ve been waiting forever for the sequel. One of the strengths of the original was its masterful ensemble casting, and thankfully this continues with Eva Green employed in the Femme Fatal role she handled so well in Casino Royale, Josh Brolin taking over from Clive Owen as the ever-present anti-hero Dwight McCarthy and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the Johnny the cocky gambler. Reprising roles are Rourke, Willis, Alba, Dawson – the whole gang’s here, and from the looks of the trailer we’re in for a similarly rip-roaring ride.
Four semi-interwoven short-stories pick up cues from the first instalment and largely focus around hunting down the infamous Senator Roark, for various reasons, but we won’t divulge any more as we don’t want to find out too much ourselves. Suffice to say – can’t wait.
